G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2) is seeking an experienced, innovative, and technically driven Senior Software Engineer to join our development team supporting mission-critical defense programs.

About the Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer at G2, you will serve as a key technical leader embedded within NIWC Pacific Laboratories. You will drive software architecture, development, integration, and deployment activities while mentoring development teams and delivering advanced communications and interoperability solutions that support national defense missions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead software development efforts from concept and prototyping through deployment and sustainment.
• Design, develop, and integrate software solutions supporting complex mission systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevSecOps, and stakeholder teams to define and implement technical solutions.
• Guide software architecture and engineering decisions using industry best practices.
• Conduct and lead code reviews to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Support proof-of-concept development and technology demonstrations.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across development teams.
• Support system-level integration activities within communications and interoperability environments.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of C/C++ programming experience.
• Minimum 10 years of Java programming experience.
• 10+ years of software architecture, software development, software integration, and/or systems engineering experience.
• Extensive experience with C, C++, Java, and Python
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with containerization technologies.
• Familiarity with the Qt framework.
• Experience leading software development teams through all phases of the software lifecycle.
• Experience with Open Systems Architecture (OSA) standards, including:
  • SOSA
  • FACE
  • SCA 4.1
• Experience with communications technologies and standards such as:
  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
  • Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
  • DevSecOps tools and processes (GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube)
  • Enterprise architecture and software design patterns
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Software engineering best practices.
• Active DoW Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with TRAX software.
• Experience with waveforms.
• Active DoW TS/SCI clearance

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to navigate each department at G2 and at the assigned client facilities.

Location:

This is a full-time, on-site position based in San Diego, CA, where you’ll work side by side with the team and our clients to achieve mission success. Being on-site allows us to deliver the hands-on support our clients rely on, fostering collaboration, innovation, and real-time problem-solving. Travel requirements are minimal (up to 10%).

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation range for this position in California is $155,000/year to $175,000/year, depending on your expertise, and market location conditions.
