G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2) is seeking a Software Engineer (AI/ML), Mid-Level, to join our team in San Diego, CA.

About the Role:

Join a small, hands-on team building AI-enabled tools for a Department of War (DoW) customer in San Diego. You will build natural language processing and machine learning capabilities in Python, knowledge graphs, and the collaborative web applications that put them in users’ hands. This is an on-site role at the customer site, with room to shape new tools from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Build and evaluate natural language processing and machine learning pipelines in Python: text analytics, topic modeling, embedding-based classification, and entity extraction.
• Design knowledge graphs and network-analysis tools in Python, including GraphRAG-style retrieval systems.
• Develop multi-user, live collaborative front-end applications in TypeScript.
• Build and deploy APIs and connect data feeds to team applications.
• Deploy and support production applications used by multiple users; manage code in git.
• Pick up new environments and methods quickly, with limited supervision.

What You’ll Need:

• Four (4) or more years of Python development experience, including building applications and using git; OR four (4) or more years of front-end TypeScript experience deploying production, multi-user applications, plus about two (2) years of Python.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Hands-on NLP or machine learning experience in Python (text analytics, topic modeling, embeddings, entity extraction).
• Experience building knowledge graphs or network-analysis tools in Python.
• Experience building and deploying APIs and connecting data feeds.
• Comfortable working with limited supervision in new environments.
• US citizen, able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Full-stack experience: Python back ends and TypeScript front ends, including live multi-user collaboration features.
• Experience building LLM applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or GraphRAG.
• Seven (7) or more years of software development experience.
• Experience supporting DoW or Navy programs.
• Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to navigate each department at the assigned facility.

Location:

This is a full-time, on-site position at the customer site in San Diego, CA. Travel is less than 10%.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation range for this position in California is $130,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on your expertise, market location conditions, and government contract specifics.
